Pancreatic cancer (PC) is a very deadly disease. In 2002 a study by the American Cancer Society said that there were estimated 30,300 new cases and 29,700 deaths due to Pancreatic Cancer. 98% of people with pancreatic cancer die.

Pancreatic cancer took the lives of both my parents, Jim and Merrilee Dal Bon. Seeing both of my parents suffer through their battle with the cancer was tremendously difficult. Among the emotions I feel is a lot of anger. I am angry this was happening to them. I am angry that my two sons, Owen 10 and Matthew 8, do not get to know their grandparents better. What I am most angry about is the cancer. But what can I do? PC did not waste anytime debilitating my parents.

So I am fighting back. And I would like you to fight with me. The Dal Bon Memorial Golf Tournament’s main goal is to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research. My dad recently started to really enjoy golf. We had a lot of great times on the golf course. I feel I owe it to my parents to fight against the disease that took their lives, but have fun as well. The golfers can golf. The volunteers can contribute their time. The sponsors can donate to a very good cause. All who give to this cause will be doing a great service to me and my family. Knowing great people will give with the kindness of the heart is all we can ask for. It’s time for a call to action!!! Create a foursome, sponsor a hole, volunteer your time, and more.
